Dianor Recovers Rare Purple Diamonds in Quebec
Dianor Resources discovered a sample of rare purple diamonds at its Ekomiak V property in the James Bay region of Quebec, Canada.
Dianor, with its join partners in the project, Metalex Ventures and Wemindji Exploration reported Tuesday that 856 diamonds were found, including 16 rare purple diamonds, from 26 surface rock samples conglomerates aged between 2.716 and 2.733 billion years.
“Natural fancy diamonds are very rare and expensive. Purple is one of the rarest and most desired colors,” Dianor reported in a statement. “This makes the Quebec diamond discovery both unique and among the oldest diamond bearing occurrence in the world.”
Dianor focuses upon exploring for diamonds in Quebec and Ontario, with flagship project, the leadbetter diamond project in northeast Ontario, in its advanced stages of exploration.
The company announced in February plans to raise $10 million in a private placement to cover expenses at Leadbetter program.
